The Reboot: Online Group Coaching

The Reboot: Trauma-Informed Nervous System Retraining + Integrative Root Cause Healing Through The Body is Shannon’s signature 6-week online group coaching program. It provides top-down Trauma-Informed education + bottom-up body-based Somatic Experiencing Trauma & stress practices. Root cause integrative healing modalities are woven into the class for Whole Self Healing. This program is a confidential group that provides necessary co-regulation support to learn how to heal safely through the body by retraining your nervous system.

The Reboot (and all of Shannon’s services) are Trauma-Informed, Healing Centered, Disability Inclusive, Culturally Competent, Somatic/Body-Based, Strengths-Based, Solutions-Focused and Short-Term, LGBTQIA2+ affirming, Kink and Poly Friendly, operated from a Harm Reduction Model, and evidence-based.

In The Reboot you will be provided root-cause education, practice, support of the most ancient ancestral healing practices, the latest & most advanced research of Integrative Mental Health, and neuroscience. These are the secrets as to how we heal.

This class is integrative, experiential, educational, and teaches how to more safely track your nervous system responses to heal through tending and befriending your nervous system responses using Polyvagal Theory and Somatic Experiencing practices. As well as, you will be informed of how to heal yourSelf through root-cause self-assessment and guided into Integrative Mental Health natural healing modalities to heal your Mind-Body-Spirit. The Reboot is simply Whole Self Healing.

Trauma healing is not about a survey or even what happened. We do not have to go to war to experience Trauma. Anything that overwhelms our nervous system can leave us triggered and stuck. Trauma responses are how your nervous system unconsciously responds and reacts – long after the event(s).

All Trauma responses are protective and make sense. Our nervous systems and our unconscious Trauma responses can be retrained and our well-being rebooted!

Each week we will journey into your nervous system to retrain, reshape, and reboot your stress and Trauma responses and add in Integrative Medicine practices for holistic Whole Self Healing. You will leave the class with a personalized Trauma-Informed Toolkit and an unique Integrative Protocol.

Everything you need is already within- waiting for you to be safely guided back to learning how to cultivate safety and internal knowing with your internal GPS: a regulated nervous system.

Each Week You Are Invited to Get Curious About:

  • Receiving a top-down teaching on your nervous system responses and Integrative Medicine evidence-based strategies to begin to address the root causes of your physical and mental health.
  • Completing home-play, in-class activities, neural re-training exercises and practices, maps, and create expressive arts (optional) to track your Trauma and nervous system responses.
  • Benefiting from co-regulation from the facilitator as you complete neural re-training exercises and body-based practices to build your Vagal Breaking abilities and Healing Vortex.
  • Practicing somatic, grounding, safety, and body-based tools from the bottom-up to develop safety within to grow your self-regulating abilities (and your co-regulating abilities for others.)
  • Gaining understanding about how to move through and support each individual Trauma/chronic stress response and get curious as to how it correlates bi-directionally to your physical & mental well-being.
  • Gathering resources to add to your personalized Trauma Toolkit + Integrative Protocol that will be created through your experiential and embodied learning in and outside of class
  • Learning how to integrate the Polyvagal Theory BASIC Framework: Befriend, Attend, Shape, Integrate, and Connect
  • Exploring elements of Somatic Experiencing SIBAM: Sensations, Images, Behaviors, Affect, and Meaning as it relates to the practice of Trauma resolution

Shannon’s Trauma-Informed approaches are somatic & body-based in order to map and tend to a dysregulated nervous system as the result of stress and Trauma. Therefore, her methods do not require you to tell her or group members the specifics of your Trauma history.

The modalities used in this class will be a unique integrative blend of how we best heal within a group format: through Polyvagal Theory, Somatic Experiencing, Vagus Nerve Retraining Exercises, Integrative Mental Health, Ecotherapy, and a sprinkling of Somatic Internal Family Systems (IFS) Parts Work.

Shannon is a gigantic nerd and brakes down Trauma healing and difficult to understand neuroscience research with humor, she is direct in her feedback yet compassionate, she will validate and also challenge you, she holds space like a ninja and has massive boundaries, she is completely nonjudgmental and accepting. She sometimes snorts when she laughs and swears when she is passionate.

The most frequent question(s) Shannon will ask of you is “Where do you feel that in your body?” And “Where is your nervous system on your Polyvagal map?”

What Do The Classes Look Like?

Week 1: The Secrets of Healing the Root-Causes of Chronic Stress and Trauma

You will learn what Trauma is and how/why you do what you do when your mind-body is Traumatized and chronically stressed. You will start to get curious about Polyvagal Theory, Somatic Experiencing, the four Stress and Trauma Responses, your attachment style, holistic and evidence-based modalities of Integrative Mental Health. We will discuss how your mind and body are connected by way of the autonomic nervous system and discover how Trauma and chronic stress leaves us chronically disconnected. You will map your unique roadmap of your nervous system as you notice how you uniquely respond to stress and experience unprocessed Trauma. We will practice getting to know how to heal through the body in class.

Week 2: This is the Rhythm of Your Life

You will learn about how the rhythms of your life impact your nervous system, stress levels, and either nourish or deplete you. This week we will dive deep into the Fight and Flight Trauma Responses to discover how they show up in your mind and body. We will explore how sleep, rest, nature, sun, light/dark, schedules, and your learning style impact your well-being. We will investigate your unique triggers, glimmers, and resources to map out how your nervous system specifically responds to stress and unprocessed Trauma. We will practice Savoring, begin to notice Glimmers and Glows, create healing routines & rituals, and also identify when we are stuck in Fight or Flight patterns that hold us back from the Rhythm of Life.

Week 3: Unthawing through the Body, Nutrition, and Herbal Supplements

You will learn how the Freeze Trauma Response and dissociation show up in the mind and body. You will also discover how your relationship to nutrition is also the relationship to yourSelf. We will explore the roots of emotional eating, caffeine use, gut-brain dysfunction, digestion, and detoxification. We will discuss how Integrative Mental Health can speed up your healing journey. You will also become educated on root-cause testing that you may have never heard about. We will practice how to start to unthaw from Freeze and dissociation in the body. Finally, we will continue to map your daily nervous system responses to illuminate day-to-day healing opportunities.

Week 4: Boundaries are The New Black

You will learn about boundaries, Fawning/Feigning, and codependency as a Trauma Response, and how we automatically People-Please in order to stay safe. You will also discover how the lack of boundaries or too rigid of boundaries can hold you back from Life, make you resentful, angry, and burnt out. You will begin to notice Fawning and People Pleasing in the body. The Spoon Theory of Chronic Illness will also be shared in this class in order to start to notice burnout earlier, ways to conserve your energy, and to accommodate yourSelf. You will map where your nervous system continues to get stuck and practice body-based somatic strategies to reduce stress and release Trauma. Finally, you will create and start practicing applying healthy boundaries to your Life.

Week 5: Blended States and Integrative Ways to Bring More Joy + Ease to Life

You will learn about later-stage Trauma healing elements of play and stillness. As well as, get curious about evidence-based, integrative, and ancient mind-body healing modalities. We will also discuss nature as medicine and why ecotherapy is being prescribed instead of antidepressants across the globe. Movement, music, and sound healing modalities will also be shared. We will also uncover the roots as to why play, mindfulness, breathwork, meditation, and stillness can be so hard and dysregulating when you have a chronic stress and Trauma history. In class, we apply a Trauma-Informed lens to various integrative mind-body practices for your safety and healing. Finally, you will map out your plans for more Play, Fun, Joy, Well-being, and Ease in Life.

Week 6: Integrating Trauma-Informed Integrative Medicine for Lifelong Healing

You will integrate all the practices and teachings through the lifelong practice of being and becoming. You will learn how to come back into connection with yourSelf, others, and the world through intimacy, gratitude, and awe. You will learn what belonging actually means and come more into connection in your interpersonal relationships through the Rules of Reciprocity. You will create a Personal Connection Plan and a Compassionate Connection Plan to Others. You will be invited to practice lifelong Routines of Resilience, Recognizing, Reflecting, Regulating, and Re-Storying. Finally, you will be welcomed Home to your Somatic Self in more Connection to Life.

Some FAQ’s and Considerations:

  • Trauma-Informed Care co-regulation can only be provided in-person in real-time. I do understand that there may be occasions you may not be able to attend each week or the schedule does not work out for you and you really want to attend. I get it. Life happens. This is why all classes will be recorded for replay later for up to a year. Nervous system retraining requires nervous system to nervous system symbiotic work through the body–attending live in person is going to bring the most stress relief and Trauma resolution. We resolve stress and Trauma through being connected and having real-time guidance into and out of our triggers. Know you will still benefit from the class if you cannot attend live.
  • Spots are limited and there are a minimum number of 15 group members required to attend in order for the class to happen. The maximum number of class attendees is 100. The Reboot has always reached the minimum number of attendees to start. In the event that the minimum number is not reached, you will automatically be re-enrolled into the next round of the class.
  • Ground rules of the group will be decided by group members. Shannon’s only “rule” is that everyone is as nonjudgmental as possible with other group members and that the confidentiality of all group members is held as sacred. You may share what you are learning about yourself with others– but never anything anyone specifically discloses about themselves. You will be expected to sign off on an Informed Consent form before participating.
  • CEU’s will not be provided for this class. If you are a Clinician or Healthcare Provider and would like CEU’s–you may copy and past this webpage as a syllabus to submit to your credentialing agency.
  • The Reboot may be therapeutic but this is not group therapy. This group is not a replacement for mental health therapy. You may benefit from adding The Reboot group coaching onto any therapeutic traditional or non-traditional healing modality you are currently using, including mental health therapy. If you are concerned about joining this group and have a therapist–you are invited to send them a link to this webpage. You are also invited to join the Free Introduction to The Reboot to learn more.
  • Group body-based Trauma work is also not appropriate for those unable to understand the Trauma of another person may look very different than yours and be confrontational to your beliefs. The nature of these classes is to learn to listen to the body and release Trauma through the body in a group setting with others with Trauma histories. It is my life’s greatest honor to listen to your stories and know more about your lived experience and this is done best through individual work and I would suggest scheduling an individual session instead with me if you would like individual support.
  • If you have untreated/unsupported/undiagnosed/diagnosed ADHD and or ASD and or OCD and or SPD please know that Trauma-Informed modalities may be extra triggering until wrap-around/holistic support is acquired. Trauma-Informed somatic body-based modalities tend to extend Trauma responses initially for neurodivergent folks. Also, the goal with Trauma-Informed Care is to assist neurodivergent folks to have more moments of co-regulation & self-regulation. The end goal of Trauma-Informed Care for a neurodivergent folks is to accept neurodivergence, receive wrap around support, and embrace the beauty that comes with your neurotype–not to take away your neurodivergence. Therefore, if you truly are neurodivergent, then you will still be neurodivergent after The Reboot. You just will have more Trauma tools, resources, and supports after class.
  • The facilitator of this group, Shannon Myers, reserves the right to decide at any time prior to or during The Reboot if you are not an appropriate fit for the group due to the safety of yourself or other members of the group. If this should occur, you will be refunded at a prorated amount for the time invested into this group.
  • The facilitator of this group, Shannon Myers, also reserves the right to tweak the content of this class based on what is emerging in the class as most beneficial for the healing of class members.
  • The cut off for registration of the class is the day before class begins.
